ClickToFlash 1.5 - Hides Flash assets on Web pages until you click on them.: "

Ever wanted to get rid of the scourge of the web that is Adobe Flash, but still retain the ability to view Flash whenever you want? With ClickToFlash, you can! Using ClickToFlash, all of those icky Flash bits that have infected most webpages on the internets are replaced with a nice, smooth gradient and the word 'Flash' set in a nice, pleasing font. When you want to view the Flash, just click on it!

The advantages of ClickToFlash are numerous. Since Flash isn't loaded until you specifically ask for it, your CPU usage will stay at normal levels when browsing the web. This has tons of benefits: web browsing stays speedy, your Mac laptop won't get as hot, and your Mac's fan won't come on as often. In fact, we guarantee* that ClickToFlash will quintuple your battery life and that it will protect those precious parts of your body on which you rest your laptop! (*note: not actually guaranteed)

Best of all, ClickToFlash even supports viewing all those ADORABLE meowing cat videos, annoying dog videos, and hilarious rickrolls from YouTube without using Flash at all! That's because YouTube also offers H.264 videos, which are used when viewing YouTube on the iPhone. With ClickToFlash, you get access to those same, higher quality videos.

Come join us! The web is so much better without Flash.

Split&Concat 3.0 - Splits large files for upload. (Free)

Split&Concat 3.0 - Splits large files for upload. (Free): "

Split&Concat 3.0
Split&Concat... In Internet newsgroups large files often are split into smaller parts since messages can not be of more than a certain size to be able to post them in newsgroups.

For that reason you can find often binary files that are split in parts like filename.mp3.001, filename.mp3.002, filename.mp3.003 etcetera. It is possible to put these parts together using commands in the Terminal yet not everybody is handy with that.

That is why I decided to create a small utility with the OS X interface that makes it easy for people to split large files to be uploaded, or to put together split files downloaded from the Internet.

Of course, you can also use this program to split or recombine files that are too large e.g. to be put on one CD.

WHAT'S NEW
Version 3.0:

  • Code rewritten for Mac OS 10.6 'Snow Leopard' (and 10.5).
  • Program no longer compatible with 10.4 or earlier due to compiler limitations.
  • Several bug fixes, e.g. 'Cannot convert '' to integer' error is fixed.
  • On Snow Leopard in 64 bit mode the program will benefit from the 64 bit 'split' and 'cat' system commands.
  • Older registration keys will expire with this version.

MenuMeters 1.4 an Snow Leopard angepasst

(Via MacTechNews.de :: News.)

MenuMeters 1.4b1 - CPU, memory, disk, and network monitoring tools. (Free)

MenuMeters 1.4b1 - CPU, memory, disk, and network monitoring tools. (Free): "

MenuMeters 1.4b1

MenuMeters is a set of CPU, memory, disk, and network monitoring tools for Mac OS X. Although there are numerous other programs which do the same thing, none had quite the feature set I was looking for. Most were windows that sat in a corner or on the desktop, which are inevitably obscured by document windows on a PowerBook's small screen. Those monitors which used the menubar mostly used the NSStatusItem API, which has the annoying tendency to totally reorder my menubar on every login.

The MenuMeters monitors are true SystemUIServer plugins (also known as Menu Extras). This means they can be reordered using command-drag and remember their positions in the menubar across logins and restarts.

MenuMeters is open source freeware released under the GNU General Public License version 2.

WHAT'S NEW
Version 1.4b1 (public beta):

  • [FEATURE] Snow Leopard compatible Universal Binary (ppc, i386, x86_64).

  • [FEATURE] Includes MenuCracker 2.x for Snow Leopard and for better long-term compatibility with other menubar add-ons.

  • [FEATURE] Hide more inactive statistics on inactive network interfaces.

  • [FEATURE] Simplified Intel CPU naming ('Intel' not 80486).

  • [FEATURE] Support for IPv6 addresses in the network menu, based on patches from Smith Kennedy.

  • [CHANGE] Major code cleanup, fixing a number of obscure bugs and probably introducing some more.

  • [CHANGE] Changes to various menubar displays and text for readability and general cleanup. Removed various tweaky options (like disabling antialiasing) that haven't been relevant since very early OS X and aren't worth the maintenance cost.

  • [CHANGE] Remove CPU menu option for 'nice' color, hasn't worked since Apple API changed.

  • [CHANGE] Removed CPU menu thermal register statistic, hasn't worked since G3.

  • [CHANGE] Reordered memory pie chart to place wired at the start of the graph.

  • [BUG] Fixed NSNumberFormatter overflow for memory statistics.

  • [BUG] Fix preference reset when opening preference pane on Leopard and later.

  • [BUG] Fix support for the PowerMate regardless of driver version.

  • [BUG] Fix Connect and Disconnect commands for VPN and other complex interfaces controlled by the PPP subsystem.

  • [BUG] Show disk space for mounted NTFS volumes.

  • [BUG] Fix slow disk unmount/eject on Tiger.

  • [BUG] CPU percent user/system split display includes nice'd process. This matches current implementations of 'top'.

  • [LOCALE] Simplified Chinese localization, thanks to Tintin.
