MKVtoolnix is a set of tools to create, alter, and inspect Matroska files under Mac OS X, Linux and other Unices, and Windows. They do for Matroska what the OGMtools do for the OGM format and then some.

Since May 1st 2003, the Matroska libraries themselves and my Matroska tools are officially released as a first public beta version. Although all of them are still under heavy development, I urge you to download the software, test it and report any errors you encounter to me. I'm always grateful for good bug reports because I miss so many mistakes and you guys normally find them. Your feedback is important to me :)

• mkvmerge: bug fix: The option '--engage remove_bitstream_ar_info' will now work on AVC/h.264 tracks read from Matroska/MP4 files as well. Fixes #868.
• mmg: bug fix: mmg will now handle all file names given on the command line instead of only the first one. This allows things like opening several selected files with mmg in Windows, and mmg will add all of them. Fixes #867.
• mkvmerge: bug fix: The amount of memory required to store the cues during muxing has been reduced drastically. This is more noticeable the more video and subtitle tracks are muxed. Fixes #871.

• mkvmerge: bug fix: The parsing of the AAC AudioSpecificConfig structure (the bytes contained in Matroska's CodecPrivate and in MP4's 'ESDS' atom) was fixed to support parsing the GASpecificConfig and the ProgramConfigElement if the channel configuration is 0. Fixes #872.
• mmg: bug fix: Loading chapters from Matroska files will open the file in read-only mode allowing to read from write-protected files.
• mkvmerge: bug fix: All entries in chapters imported from MPLS playlists were named 'Chapter 0'. The numbering has been fixed. Fixes #870.
• mkvmerge: new feature: Selecting the lowest process priority with '--priority lowest' will cause mkvmerge to also select an idle/background I/O priority. Implements #863.
• mkvmerge: bug fix: Fixed reading AVI files with audio chunks of size 0. Fixes #843.

MKV2PS3 is an application that can convert video files in the MKV container format to MP4 video files that are playable on the Sony PlayStation 3. MKV2PS3 can convert most common MKV files very quickly, and has a queue for converting hundreds of files at once. MKV2PS3 can convert files so fast because it doesn't produce strictly standard conformant MP4 files: they play fine on the PS3 and elsewhere (see the F.A.Q.), but not everywhere (e.g., not on the iPhone). Because MKV2PS3 doesn't re-encode the video track, conversion is fast, and the resulting video has the exact same high quality as the source file. Note that most subtitles are supported (see F.A.Q.), but the PS3 does not display them at this time.

Little Snitch sees what happens under the hood.

A firewall protects your computer against unwanted guests from the Internet. But who protects your private data from being sent out? Little Snitch does!

As soon as you're connected to the Internet, applications can potentially send whatever information they want to wherever they want.

Sometimes they do this for good reason, on your explicit request. But often they don't. Little Snitch allows you to intercept these unwanted connection attempts, and lets you decide how to proceed.

Little Snitch informs you whenever a program attempts to establish an Internet connection. You can then choose to allow or deny this connection, or define a rule how to handle similar, future connection attempts. This reliably prevents private data from being sent out without your knowledge. Little Snitch runs inconspicuously in the background and it can also detect network related activity of viruses, trojans and other malware.

Version 3.1:

• Automatic Profile Switching This new feature allows you to assign networks (for example your Wi-Fi network at home, a public hotspot, etc.) to certain profiles. Whenever you join one of these networks, Little Snitch detects the network change and switches to the associated profile automatically.
     When you join a network for the first time, Little Snitch shows an alert window allowing you to choose the desired profile. Alternatively you can configure a default profile that will be used for all unknown networks.
     The mappings between profiles and networks can be reviewed and edited later in Little Snitch Configuration, either in the profiles section of the sidebar, or in the new 'Known Networks' window (⇧⌘K).
     Automatic Profile Switching is off by default. To use it, it must be enabled in Little Snitch Configuration > Preferences > Automatic Profile Switching.
