GutenPrint 5.2.5

Gutenprint is a set of very high quality drivers for printers, with particular emphasis on inkjets.

Gutenprint is the new name for the Gimp-Print project.

WHAT'S NEW

Version 5.2.5:

Gutenprint 5.2.5 is a release from the stable branch of Gutenprint 5.2. Gutenprint 5.2 no longer supports Macintosh OS X 10.2; it now requires 10.3 (Panther) or higher. Notable changes since the Gutenprint 5.2.4:

• The packaging for Mac OS X has been changed:
  
  
  
  1. Printer PPDs are no longer included in the download. The PPDs will be created during the installation process. This will add several minutes to the installation process. This change will reduce the download by over 30 MB.
  
  
  2. There are now separate binaries for Leopard (OS X 10.5). The proper files will automatically be instlled based on the version of OS X on the boot disk.

• Add Device ID strings for printers for which they are known.


• Changed a number of laser printers by Gestetner, Infotec, Lanier, NRG, Ricoh, Savin, and Xerox to be large format (A3/tabloid instead of A4/letter). Please inform us at gimp-print-devel@lists.sourceforge.net if you encounter other printers that should be changed.


• Make the QualityEnhancement option (available in the Epson driver for certain printers) function correctly.


• Alow Epson printers using Claria inks to select quadtone or hextone output.


• Add support for EA5 envelope (paper size).


• Fixed the margins for the HP LaserJet 2100 and 2100M with A4 paper.


• Update the German translation.
