Version 2.5.2:

New Features

  • System Font Protection: Mac OS X has a System method, that monitors the System Font Folder and checks whether all 'protected' System Fonts are still in place. If not, they will be copied back into the System Font directory. FontExplorer X Pro 2.5.2 introduces a function to the ‘Tools’ menu which can turn System Font Protection on or off. When turning System Font Protection back on, you can optionally restore removed system fonts. (Requires OS 10.5 or higher)

Note: If you have turned System Font Protection off and replaced System Fonts you should not use the 'Clean System Fonts Folders…' feature as doing so will remove your replacement System Fonts

  • Added 'Languages' to the Information Area – shows the languages that a font supports. This can be activated via the 'Customize' dialog (Menu: View > Customize… or right-click in the Information Area)

  • Global Font Request and Activation Conflict dialogs now show the font format of listed fonts

New Features for FontExplorer X Server Users

  • 'Font Format' and 'Last Modified by' information added to the License View panel

  • A new 'Download Now' button in the Summary & Login panel enables you to download all new server fonts with one click. Optionally you can set this to occur on login

  • It is now possible to 'hide' FontExplorer X servers in the source list. They can be shown again with the 'Show hidden servers' command

  • Server sets which are set to force download are now identifiable by their icon

  • Any manually connected server that has been logged in to now remains in the source list. It is no longer necessary to manually reconnect each time FontExplorer X is started

Resolved

  • Font classification checkboxes would scroll out of view under Mac OS X 10.4 making them inaccessible

  • The color chooser dialog would incorrectly reopen on certain actions

  • Fonts activated by plug-ins will now follow the settings for automatic deactivation in the Preferences > Advanced panel. They will no longer automatically deactivate when FontExplorer X Pro quits – unless specified in the preference settings

  • A small number of specific fonts would cause a crash when opening the Font Information Dialog

  • Adobe Illustrator CS5 PlugIn (Mac OS X 10.6 only): Both Adobe Illustrator and FontExplorer X Pro would hang when a plug-in font request caused FontExplorer X Pro to launch

  • Adobe Photoshop CS3/CS4/CS5 PlugIn: Photoshop no longer hangs when dropping multiple PDF documents on the Photoshop Dock icon

  • Adobe Photoshop CS3/CS4/CS5 PlugIn: Photoshop crashes when 'Activate All' is selected in the plug-in dialog (timing related)

  • Various unrelated crashes

  • Mac OS X 10.4 or later.
  • FontExplorer X Server version 1.5.x (for server connnect).
